FIN EC Software

Sector

The program calculates basic and torsional cross-sectional characteristics of thin-walled cross-sections. It provides inputs necessary for warping verification of steel members.

This program is distributed as a part of FIN 2DFIN 3D programs and any programs package.

Main features

  • Cross-sections can contains both closed cells and free branches
  • Database of hot rolled steel profiles
  • Various thickness of cross-sectional elements
  • Calculation of fundamental cross-sectional characteristics (centre of gravity, cross-sectional area, first and second moments of area, radii of gyration etc.)
  • Calculation of torsional characteristics (e.g. Saint Venant torsional constant, polar moment of inertia, warping constant)
  • Results relatively to the centre of gravity, shear centre or origin of coordinates
  • Detailed text and brief graphical reports

The program works independently however it can be used in cooperation with programs FIN 3D and FIN 2D for determining characteristics of cross-sections which are not included in the database of these programs.
